Agréable lieu (et le moins cher hôtel de mer de tout Cuba) dont la forme en croix avec sa salle à dîner et un bar au centre est très acceptable. Atmo plaisante, même sans piscine : après tout, on se trouve sur la plage.

Au Cuatro Vientos tout près, on donne des cours et sorties de plongée sous-marine pour 30cuc. Comme le Tararaco est aussi une école hôtelière, les chambres sont moins chères, ma chère. Chacune compte sa terrasse et la clim. En été (avril à octobre), c'est archi-plein.

En hiver, la chambre simple 25cuc, la double 35cuc (tarifs 2009-2010); dîners 10-12cuc, pdéj 3cuc. On raconte aussi que la direction tolère qu'un(e) étranger(e) puisse inviter un(e) Cubain(e) à sa chambre ; ) —

Comme Santa Lucia compte que des hôtels tout-inclus, on peut acheter un bracelet quotidien (bouffe et boissons à volonté) à cet effet : 15cuc de 9h-18h ou 25cuc de 9h-23hPour la meilleure option de plage, il est possible de rejoindre au bout de la péninsule playa Los Cocos par le terre-plein assez ravagé, soit que vous marchez (ce qui serait tout à fait normal, tsé, man ?) soit que vous allez poser votre gros cul d'obèse dans le petit train qui part des hôtels, ou que vous fassiez suer un pauvre cheval en calèche, ou bien en louant un scooter (15/20cuc /jour) pour faire comme à la maison : polluer; Los Cocos avec son ranchon (ci-bas à gauche : bar et snacks) se trouve à côté d'un joli bout de plage avec des cabanes privées (La Boca) appartenant à des Cubains de Camaguey qui les fréquentent surtout en été ou des employés des stations balnéaires locales.

Le soir venu, on se rend au Centro cultural Mar Verde entre le Club Caracol et le Club Santa Lucia; c'est là que se rencontrent après 23 heures la faune locale de jolies Cubain-baines (certain(e)s cherchant de la compagnie) et le personnel des hôtels qui viennent de terminer leur journée.

Donc, faites le calcul. En simple 40cuc par jour, nourri(e) logé(e) désaltéré(e) et — qui sait — séduit(e); en couple 32,50cuc par personne (65cuc). Pas cher...profitez-en et surtout, ne le répétez à personne : vous l'avez lu ici en premier.

Lovely place (and cheapest beach hotel in Cuba) cross-shaped with a lovely outdoor dining area and bar in the center is quite commendable even without a pool : after all, we are on a beach. Pleasant marine atmosphere, kind — albeit learning — staff.

As Tararaco is also a hotel school, the rooms are cheaper. Each has a terrace and air conditioning. In summer (April to October) is full to the hilts : forget it. In winter, the room 25cuc is single, double 35cuc (2009-2010 rates); 10-12cuc dinners, breakfasts 3cuc. At Cuatro Vientos next door, scuba diving courses and trips for 30cuc.

We have been told that management tolerates clients inviting Cubans to their rooms - As Santa Lucia has only all-inclusive hotels, you can buy a bracelet daily (food and drinks) to all-you-can eat and drink: 15cuc from 9 am-6 pm or 25cuc to 23h00. Best beach option is at the end of the peninsula playa Los Cocos (see map) and you can get there (if you're too friggin' lazy to walk, duh) by the pedraplen road rather pock-marked or by the litlle shuttle train that runs by the hotels or by renting a scooter (15/20cuc / day).

By that stretch of beach, one can see private cabanas (on horizon of photo above : La Boca) belonging to Cubans from Camaguey who use them mainly as summer cottages; a small community of Santa Lucia resort employees also live there. For evenings, go to Mar Verde Centro Cultural between Club Santa Lucia and Club Caracol pretty local Cubans (some looking for company) meet after hours with hotel staff.

You do the math. Singles 40cuc for a day, fed, housed, refreshed and - who knows - seduced; couples 32.50 cuc per person (65cuc). Cheap ... take advantage of this deal while it lasts and most importantly, keep it to yourself. You have read it here first.
